Bea Prutton

Bea Prutton is a student at the University of East Anglia, studying MA Modern and Contemporary Writing. She completed her BA in History of Art and Literature amidst the pandemic madness last year.

Throughout her undergraduate degree, Bea specialised in Modernist literature and art, and became fascinated by the Little Magazines of the early 20th century. Her undergraduate thesis focussed on the role of legal and non-legal censorship in shaping the work of Mina Loy, and magazines including The Dial and Others.

Her postgraduate thesis is in its infancy, but will most likely analyse the presence of the internalised censor in the work of UEA alum, Sara Taylor, adopting the approach of genetic criticism in her analysis.

Bea has worked as a professional proof reader for translated magazines, as well as Arts Editor for Concrete UEA.

C*nsorship Magazine is my passion project and something I can’t wait to watch grow.
